Do your kids take their own luggage on holiday?

I'm due to travel to Turkey with my kids (age 8 and 6) and potentially my partner. Last time I went on holiday with the kids they were babies and so all of our clothes were in one big suitcase. Now they're a bit older, I'm wondering whether it's worth them having their own luggage or if I should put all our clothes in one suitcase again (my partner will more than likely have his own suitcase).

What would you suggest?

Traveling with easyJet soon, are they very strict over kids pull along cabin cases, with regard to size, or is it just the adult cabin bags that have ti conform to size.

For two adult and two children I take just 2suitcases, summers clothes are lighter and smaller anyway so take up less room.

We do 3 hand luggage cases - my kids are 9 and 6 and wheel their own ones on

there are four of us and we’ve never taken four cases.
on the most recent holiday there were “adult stuff” and “kids stuff” bags though I reckon it makes sense to mix it up a bit lest one get lost

Doesn’t make any different there are size guidelines which are easy to find. In short, unless you pay for large cabin bags, the allowance is very small

Are you hiring car or using taxi the other end? If so I would be aware that many car boots only fit one large case. Will you even fit 4 cases in your own car?

Get medium cases. They still fit 20kg and fit better in cars.

If we have check in luggage, we take a suitcase or 2 and pack everhyone's things in separate packing cubes. But if we travel with hand luggage only, everyone takes their own case. Kids also pack their own, we've been practicing that since they were tiny, so since they were about your DC age, i didn't even need to supervise.

We also almost never check in bags.

Airplane staff will happily put bags up into overhead lockers for you if you need help. Looking at the ages of your children, I would expect the older one to reliably wheel a bag; the younger one depends on the child - you know best. Don’t take more bags than you have people to wheel. Maybe get each kid a small backpack for them to carry their stuff for the flight. But then it’s on you to remember not to leave these behind.

Our kids are 9 and 12 and we try and travel fairly light, as we tend to move around using different hotels when we go away, rather than stay in a resort. Normally trips are max 10 days when we go away and we take just a single checked bag of 20kg for all of us and then 3 rucksacks as hand luggage which are mostly filled with laptops and ipads and teddy bears. I always chuck some underwear in the hand luggage just in case. I've not lost luggage on a direct flight, but changing planes it's happened a few times. When we go to Australia we do take 2 cases, as we are away for several weeks.

We usually do hand luggage only if going somewhere hot and have a case each.
