Cheap ways and places to go abroad

Thinking of getting an abroad holiday in for October rather than risk a caravan and the weather in this country. I know not won't be baking hot in nearby Europe but like to be warmer than here.

Any frugal / top tips on getting a cheapo week away?

Southern Italy or Spain should be nice in October. I always look on Skyscanner.net and search "everywhere" to see where the cheap flights are for my dates. And then go to book directly with the relevant airline. Then I look at booking.com for accommodation - normally always somewhere with free cancellation/last minute payment. You can enter your criteria and then search by map. What sort of budget do you have / what sort of trip?

We did 5 nights in Nerja one October half term. Apartment with pool booked through Vrbo 5 minutes walk to the beach. Can't remember exact price but apartment was really cheap but lovely. We did the 5 nights to save on flight costs. Pool was a but chilly but sea was really warm. Hired a car and had a fabulous day in Granada.

The cheapest option OP is usually a cheap flight and an Airbnb/vrbo apartment, shop at the local supermarket and self cater. You can do a break like that for a few hundred pounds out of the main tourist season. We often do this in Feb and Oct half terms. Go south, if you want sun. Southern Spain is our go-to cheap destination in autumn/winter.

The other option is that you can sometimes pick up a cheap package on sites like lastminute.com if you're prepared to wait until a few weeks before you go. On the home page you can 'browse our great last minute deals'.

Turkey on the south/south west coast (bodrum/marmaris/Antalya) should still be warm in October. The budget airlines fly there, hotel on booking.com, and much cheaper than Europe once you're there.

This is just the sort of thing I was hoping for. Not fussy really a new place to explore is fine - not sure on budget but low.

Actually Nerja is somewhere I'd like to visit - it's not far from the airport is it?

Thanks for this I wasn't sure if last minute deals was still a thing.
