Would you book a last minute holiday for nest week with the current airport chaos?

I'm having cancer tratment in the summer holidays so have got permission to take the children out of school for a very last minute week's holiday. Almost booked a week in Canaries last night leaving Saturday but when I got to the seat booking page the plane was almost full and we would have all been sitting rows apart so had to let that one go. I'm finding all the research exhausting and now I'm just really worried that it will be a big stress if we have problems at the airport which kind of negates the whole idea of a relaxing, fun holiday.

WWYD?

I would, but I’d avoid any EasyJet or TUI flights as they seem to be the worst affected.

Allow extra time and chill out at the airport.

Came here to say exactly this.

Jet 2 seem to have faired the best with the package deals.

Can you drive to France?

I'd avoid Gatwick and EasyJet tbh.

BA seems to have front-loaded most of its cancellations - we had both ours cancelled for May half term more than a month ahead of time, and rebooked very simply for the same day.

I'd also book a destination/airline with multiple flights from that airline each day.

If I was going to fly I would opt for Ryanair (never though I would say that) and perhaps Liverpool or East Midlands Airport depending where you live.

Expect disruption. Also expect covid. So many people are getting it at airports or on planes atm so do consider that if it would be dangerous for you.

Flew out of Gatwick Saturday, absolutely no issues whatsoever!
