This wouldn't be for a holiday, but I can't find relevant section to post this under, and it doesn't really matter what the reason is anyway.

Would you travel to Riga (Latvia) in September?

Yes. A friend just got back and highly recommended it.

Also interested in this. Just out of interest, is there a reason you wouldn’t travel there ? Proximity to hostilities ?

It's a great place! I'd be surprised if hostilities got there before you, but maybe leave booking until nearer the time?

Do you have a minute to tell us about Riga please ? What is it like ? What kind of place is it ?

Well, I was there with my mother and sister and therefore extremely stressed!

I remember a great hotel room, really luxurious with a pod filter coffee machine. Gorgeous breakfasts- fabulous breads, cheeses and cold meats and jams, as well as indifferent bacon/sausage/egg.
Lovely cobbled streets and parks.
Felt and fabric items- I bought an apron and oven mitts in a beautiful fabric, and some moulded felt slippers that I loved.
There were gorgeous pottery mugs that mimicked the winding cobbled streets and complicated roof line.

if I remember correctly prices were not dissimilar to the uk. It felt neither expensive nor cheap, though the room was amazing value.

There were some lovely museums- history and folklore.

A lot of recognition of the impact of the soviet era.

A massive market- acres of stalls.

We did a boat ride on the river, very picturesque.
