Apple air tags whilst on holiday?

We go away on our first holiday as a family on Thursday.

i will 100% keep eyes on my 3 year old at all times but I’ve seen people applying Apple air tags to their children so they know where they are.

im a worrier anyway so I’m thinking this maybe a good idea.

has anyone else done this? Does it work properly?

thanks 😊

I looked into an air tag when our cat went missing and returned, as it was cheaper than a GPS tracker. After looking into it I found the Chipolo One to be a much better option. Has a wider range, longer battery life (3+ years I believe) and is the same price. The apple air tag range is only 30 feet so unless your child is within 30 feet of someone with an iPhone it won't help (and it doesn't work through walls). Chipolo One has a range of 200 feet, so much more chance of someone with an iPhone being within that proximity to help give you the location.

@Springblossom2022 thanks so much! I’ll take a look into that one!

The information above about Apple Air Tags is incorrect. It showed us where our luggage was at Gatwick Airport and it was out on the tarmac definitely over 30ft away and with walls between us. The whole point is that if your suitcase is loading onto the wrong plane you can tell the airline where it is

I can see my the AirTag in my daughter's suitcase on my phone and she's in Spain at the moment!
I'm not sure I'd use it for a child though as the location it shows is quite wide.

Edited

the apple air tag pings off any iphone for its signal, not only the phone its linked to, thats why you saw it at the airport, if no one around it had an iphone then you wouldnt have seen it until it came close to an iphone

What type of holiday is it? If a beach/pool type holiday and they’re mostly in swimsuits what would you attach it to? Will they constantly be near someone with an iPhone, because they work by bouncing off the signal from people’s phones.

Apple air tag WILL do the job
