Does anyone have any great recommendations for linear or circular trails that could be done in a week? And preferably reached by train? Me and DD want to take a trip in September and fancy a stroll
In france. Happy to put it together myself with my rusty French, or use a travel company.
Merci bien! Xx

I haven't used them myself but I know people who have had good experiences with inntravel and you might get some inspiration from their website.

That looks to be an excellent site. Might be able to make arrangements ourselves too.

How far do you think you’d do in a day?

faffadoodledo · 17/06/2022 07:05

If it's flatish we're happy to do up to 15 - 18 miles a day. It's a holiday after all! But if it's very hilly then less - maybe 10-12.

If you can read french this is the french hiking association website. Idees Rando gives suggestions for hiking trails www2.ffrandonnee.fr/idees-rando/resultats.aspx?lieu=0&duree=1&niveau=0&saisonPrintemps=-1&saisonEte=-1&saisonAutomne=-1&saisonHiver=-1&milieuVille=-1&milieuMontagne=-1&milieuMer=-1&milieuCampagne=-1&page=1&reftopo=0000

We did Blois to Saumur walking around 12 miles each day:
Blois to Chaument sur Loire
Chaument sur Loire to Amboise
Amboise to Tours
Rest day in Tours
Tours to Villandry
Villandry to Chinon (16 mile stonker!)
Chinon to Fontevraud-l’Abbaye
Fontevraud-l’Abbaye to Saumur

@Fivemoreminutes1 sounds like a good daily distance. Was it a GR you followed? And was accommodation easy to book?

Yes, it was GR and most accommodation was either booked online or via phone (and I speak VERY basic French!).

Another vote for Inntravel - they really know their stuff, and their customer service is excellent.
