Beach bag or backpack?

We’re going on our first beach holiday abroad as a family with 2 under 5’s, just wondering whether to get a standardbeach bag or would backpacks be more practical?

Beach bag is much easier. Easy to just reach in and see everything and grab it

I find a shoulder bag too much faff, it doesn't really free up both hands and falls off my shoulder. A rucksack is secured on your back for freedom of movement.

Backpacks are much easier as they mean you have both hands free and they are not falling off your shoulder all the time, or dragging one shoulder down if you have slightly heavy stuff in there.

Oh... and backpacks double up as handluggage too.

Beach bag! This is my specialist subject. We live by the sea and DH INSISTS on taking a rucksack to the beach. No no no! You can't find things in the bottom of it. The very best beach bag is a giant Tesco (or other supermarket) bag for life. No crannies to trap sand over the winter months either!

Beach bag worked perfect for our trip with our 2 under 5 last month

Beachbag. We went to Tenerife at Easter and DH thought we can go away with just the smaller backpack for the pool.
The next day he suggested buying a beach bag. It was funny seeing him emptying the backpack all the time to find something which had slipped to the bottom of the bag or rumminging through a narrower bag. I just prefer them, far easier to reach for stuff, they are wider.

We use a backpack for things like extra towels or clothes on top of it if we don't stay at the hotel pool/beach.
