I am desperate for ideas for our family holiday this year ? have two dds (4 and 6) and am looking for a beach holiday in Europe in somewhere that has enough going on but not too ?British? with loads have package holidays. Would like self catering (2 bed apt ideally), somewhere with a pool (plus children?s pool) with some activities for children (not necessarily a kids clubs); within walking distance of town/beach.

So far have considered: Apartments in Sardinia (no children?s pool though); Pierre and Vacance residence in Port Grimaud (Cote d?Azure) and
Would like Sicily or Corsica but can?t find self-catering. Budget £2,500

Am I asking too much??

Hi

Have you tried :

individualtravellers.com

Menorca's not too British.

We've been to the other big P&V place in the SoF - Cap Esterel. It was excellent. Our children were 4 and 2 at the time, and there was plenty for us to do with them, and they also had their little clubs (you book for as much or as little as you want).

We were seriously looking at the Port Grimaud place this year, simply because it is closer to more offsite attractions. We were also interesting in taking the train, because it is such a long drive.

Would you consider camping? I don't mean real camping but ina pluch mobile home - they can be better than apartments! The campsites vary in size, location and Britishness! I.E avouid Siblu sites as they are the Haven of Europe with Rory the Tiger et al!!

The campsites have pools, entertainment (again varies from bingo and karaoke to a weekly kids disco for an hour), play areas, bar, restauarnt/takeaway etc etc. Also you get a BBQ with your accomm and it's lovely to sit outside at night BBQing and supping the local vino!

We go every year and we all love it! been to France the last 6 years but trying Italy out this year. Some gorgeous looking sites in the Italian lakes. Quite cheap too!

@leslaki: Do you have the name of any companies you could recommend? This sounds just what we're looking for.

Thanks for the website, I'll look at that.

We've been to Menorca and it was OK but not a great deal to see and do.

I have considered camping and we are going in August to Devon/Cornwall however I don't think the big European campsites are for us. Ideally I would like some privacy for sitting outside so a bungalow/small villa with shared pool would be nice.

Self-catering (with children's pool) in Sardinia or sicily is what I would really like but there doesn't seem to be a lot about.

Any views on Greece?

I think I'm a bit fussy and what I want doesn't actually exist!
