Lake Garda in August - day trips

We are heading to a Lake Garda holiday camp for a week in the second half of August. Taking 3-4 days to drive each way. We usually camp/self cater in NW Europe and I now wondering if we will cope with the heat and traffic. It was my idea to go ad I really wanted some warmth and sunshine but we usually sight see a lot. Just wondering how much we will be able to do staying near Salo in the SW of the area. DH wanted the nice views but we will be a long way from attractions and travel distances are long.

Can anyone advise in ease of travel and ferries etc, or maybe we chill out for a change and enjoy the scenery.

Verona and Venice are both doable in a day from Garda. Direct trains from Desenzano/Peschiera to Verona, then change. Trains in Italy are very good. You can book in advance on Trenitalia (like Trainline etc but better, you check in on the app so you don't need to validate tickets etc) Long day for Venice though and it will be rammed.
Garda won't be that boiling (at least for Italy) in August- 25-30 is normal.
Lots of the little towns around the lake are connected by ferry/bus if you want to do shorter trips.
