Flying from Newcastle

Amid all the reports of chaos at airports and holidays being cancelled, I am looking for some reassurance. Has anyone flown from Newcastle airport with TUI in the last few days or is due to fly soon? I fly next week and although I only see other airports mentioned I am still nervous!

We are flying in a few weeks. At the moment they are still selling seats on my flight so I’m hopeful. Only a few of many, many flights have been cancelled but its nerve wracking.

Article in today's Chronicle stating Newcastle Airport's average wait time for security is 6 minutes and asking people not to turn up too early for flights. Sorry, no idea about cancellations.

I flew from Newcastle a couple of weeks ago and it was spot on. Tonnes of people at check in but Tui and jet2 seemed to have it under control. Security took 5 minutes. I’d give yourself plenty of time for the check in though, it was smooth but we did wait. It was a Saturday though.

I flew last week but not with TUI. There was literally no queue at security, I walked miles through the barriers all by myself and only saw another human at the bit where I collected my tray. There was quite a queue at TUI check in as I passed but it was moving quickly as I saw some people I know queuing then again a few minutes later in duty free.

Flew on Saturday morning, start of half term. Not tui, but couldn’t see any issues with those flights on the board. We were through bag drop off, security and sitting in the bar within 15 minutes. Smooth on the way back too.

Really don’t think there’s any need to worry about Newcastle - it was fine at Easter too when Manchester and Gatwick were having problems then.

Newcastle airport have posted on FB saying there is only a 6 minute wait to get through security.
