Just got my fight cancelled
woke up to go to the airport and they had sent an email at 1:00am.
good luck to everyone, what a bloodbath.

From Gatwick to Faro
it’s part of a package holiday but cannot get hold of tour operator, they’re so busy that their lines are closed
never been in this situation before and don’t know if they’re supposed to reach out to me

It's happening a lot. Over the last 6 weeks we've had daily business travel cancelled, Wizz Air, EasyJet and BA
I hope it settles soon

Oh no, how disappointing. Is there anything in the email about what you should do? It probably says 'don't go to the airport' but beyond that?
If it's cancelled rather than rescheduled for later today/tomorrow, you will be able to get a refund and compensation, it's probably worth reading up on your rights on Moneysaving Expert or Which? Also keep an eye on Simon Calder's social media, he's probably gone into overdrive over all this in the last few days.
Obviously if they've emailed a plane load of people, possibly more than one, and then turned the phone lines off, it's going to take time to get through everyone to sort them out, so waiting for them to contact you or issue a statement on their website, is probably all you can do for now.

Whatever their issues are, I hope they sort them out before the summer season .

@BarbaraofSeville , the email came from the airline, not the tour operator.
the only way to reach them by email is going to my booking on the website, but then you have to choose from a drop down menu with options and none of them is about this.
I guess I can pick one and explain what my problem is, but I really hope they call me at some point today.
I just want a refund, at this point I don’t have the heart to reschedule and be disappointed again.
