DH has arranged a lovely birthday prezzie for me, flights & hotel in Bilbao.
It is a VERY special birthday.

All I have to do is pick which Michelin * resto I want to go to on 1 night.
Anyone been to one?
Also, recommendations for others would be useful as we'll be there for a few days.

Had the best paella there, was a bar not a restaurant and the only place open at 7.30pm (kids were hungry) will attempt to work out which one ...

We went to the central market and ate at a bar rammed with locals.
We ended up just pointing to other peoples food as it was noisy and they didn't much like our Spanish.
It was amazing food, better than most of the Michelin stared places I've been.
Enjoy OP.

Honestly, based on previous trips there, go local, not Michelin *
So many lovely bars where you can get amazing Pinchos (tapas)
Wander round, enjoy the sites and graze at a few local bars

@impressivelycunty Thanks, that's what I was looking for.
Only 120 euros for the tasting menu !

We're there for 4 lunches & 5 dinners, so plenty of opportunity to go cheapie local as well.

I would really recommend hopping in a taxi for 20 mins and visiting Eneko which is just outside Bilbao. You can also book a wine tour at certain times. It shares an estate with Azurmendi which has three stars — I didn’t visit but I’m sure it’s pretty special!
Sure, you can enjoy loads of great pintxo on Plaza Nueva the rest of the time but the Bilbao Michelin star cooking is absolutely first class and a special experience. I enjoyed Nerua also but the trip out to Eneko was extra special for me and the food more memorable.

@abricotine Thanks for that, there's such a fantastic choice in Bilbao.

Our 5 night break, 5 hotel, M dinner + other meals will cost not much more than 1 night at Le Manoir !
