Italy with kids- Covid restrictions Support Thread

Anyone else due to travel to Italy this summer with semi-vaccinated children?!

DCs are 5 and 9. Both have had 1 dose, and are due their second 19 days before we travel. So will be classed as fully vaccinated (2 doses plus 2 weeks) but presumably not sufficient time to get him a covid pass- he doesn't have a phone so I guess we need a letter which I can't imagine will come in 5 days before we go!

Anyone else in the same boat?

Have you checked the rules? Nobody checked my Green Pass once the whole time I was in Italy in April, mask rules were relaxed in May as well.

Wish I hadn't wasted half an hour on the Passenger Locator Form either.

Had a temperature check a couple of places but they were tiny chapels with limited entry - doubt you will be taking your kids there😃

Verite1 · 23/05/2022 13:49

We are traveling in summer. I thought green passes had now been abolished? 5 year olds were exempt anyway.

AmbushedByCake1 · 23/05/2022 13:58

No passenger locator forms any more for Italy. Stopped 1st May

AmbushedByCake1 · 23/05/2022 13:59

When are you off OP?

BritWifeInUSA · 23/05/2022 14:00

Green passes were abolished from May 1. What kind of support do you need?

Acunningruse · 23/05/2022 14:04

Yes, I understand there are no restrictions for under 6s.

Those of you saying "the green pass is abolished", are you saying there are no entry requirements? That's not my understanding of the rules which seem to say that travellers over the age of 6 have to be double vaccinated? My son will be double vaccinated by thus point but I don't know how to prove it.

When we went last week (Easyjet from Gatwick), no one checked a single COVID-related thing. We made sure our COVID passes were up-to-date etc but no one checked. The passenger locator forms have been scrapped. The only COVID restriction the entire time was wearing FFP2s on the flights to and from.

Geamhradh · 23/05/2022 15:11

Current entry restrictions (not fully vaccinated over 6s need either an LFT or PCR) will be reviewed at the end of May.
If they keep them, and you can't get the Vax confirmation in time, then you can just do an LFT.
As others have said, the Green Pass has all but been abolished.
If you use public transport you still need an ffp2.
That's it for restrictions.

Yeah but OP can’t rely on them not checking. I mean I’ve visited Itsly without going through passport control, a long queue had formed, the border staff got fed up and ‘Italian’ and decided to stop checking passports and just wave us all through 🤣

AnnaMagnani · 23/05/2022 17:59

No-one checked our Covid passes at passport control in Italy in April. If you are really worried then you could get an official LFT done before you travel - but I bet no one checks it. Green pass not needed at any point throughout stay - last week April, first week May, it's basically abolished for tourists.

Masks came off first week of May - just needed for public transport, theatres and the flight there and back - make sure they are FFP2 which are actually much easier to wear anyway.

They are updating the rules again on 31st May - expect a further simplification.

We’re going on Saturday (finally after 2 cancellations). I’m triple vaccinated but my 9 yo has only had one jab so I’m taking her for an official lateral flow test on Friday. No passenger locator form now and I’ve bought a box of ffp2 masks. I don’t need anything else do I?

motogirl · 23/05/2022 18:40

My parents proof form arrived 48 hours after mum called to request it (despite me telling her how to download it! Parents). So you may be ok if it's required but my understanding is that restrictions are being dropped before then

No, that's it.
Most shops (at least where I am) are still asking clients to wear masks but surgical will be fine for that.
Have a lovely time! (It's fecking hot, we have July-August temperatures and the high is expected towards the end of the week)

Home06 · 23/05/2022 20:49

Does anyone think there is a remote possibility of the requirement for unvaccinated under 12's to take a test for travel, being lifted on 31 May? We travel on 2 June and our children have only had one dose. Would love not to bother with lfts. Thanks

AnnaMagnani · 23/05/2022 20:56

In Florence everyone looked at us as if we were mad for still wearing a mask the second May 1st ticked over! No shops were expecting it at all.

I wonder if mask wearing is regional like in the UK.

MojoJojo71 · 24/05/2022 20:12

Thanks @Geamhradh. I made the mistake of going to Rome in July a few years ago. OMG it was so hot! DD was a grumpy sweaty mess the whole time we were there and I wasn’t much better tbh. Thunderstorms this week in the area we’re going (Cavallino-treporti, near Venice) but hopefully clearing up by the weekend for our arrival

MojoJojo71 · 28/05/2022 18:25

Quick update. We are in Italy now. Nobody asked me for my vaccination status, nobody asked if DD had been jabbed or tested (£35 for an LFT down the drain 😡) and it wasn’t mandatory to wear a mask on the flight. The bus driver asked us to put a mask on but other than that covid does not seem to be an issue at Marco polo
airport and at the campsite we are staying there are no mask wearers at all apart from a few of the staff.

Acunningruse · 01/06/2022 17:49

All entry requirements lifted!!!!!
