We have never been abroad with kids who are now age 10 and 13. They are active boys so looking for somewhere with activities etc. is duinrell a bit like Center parcs? I don’t know anyone who has been in real life. Would we fly to schipol and get a taxi from there? And then could we manage without a car and just bike around the site? Has anyone been with this age group kids and has it been good fun?
many thanks in advance for any advice anyone could give me

Is the pool open in October half term? I thought I'd read it was a summer thing?

The website says it is open in October. Just the outdoor bit is closed. Not sure how important the outdoor bit is?

Indoor bit is more than enough to entertain in October. We did a week, took a few days in Amsterdam first then train and bus to duinrell which was really easy.

We've been twice and loved it. The best part to stay in is the part called the island ( or eiland) I think. It's slightly more spaced , leafy out and quieter. The campsite but can get a bit noisy if large groups are pitched together - I did use ear plugs for a couple of nights.

The theme park is strangely relaxing for a theme park and lots of fun.

When the theme park closes for the day you still have access to it to stroll around in even though the rides are closed. This is great for kids on go carts and scooters to explore. Also the play areas stay open and some families take snacks and drinks and set up on a picnic table while the kids play.

The local town is lovely and has a nice variety of restaurants and shops plus as I think has already been mentioned an amazing ice cream parlour.

The beach is a cycle ride away and is huge.

We drove there as used it as a base for exploring the surrounding areas but one day we took a bus from the local town to Lieden train station and caught a train to Amsterdam - very easy to do but not particularly cheap.

We had to pay a few euros to use the indoor pool if I remember correctly but they have been because we booked through Eurocamp and not direct through the park.

We went last week of English school Summer hols and site was very quiet by the end of the week. Prices lower as well if you book direct as other countries were heading back to school by then.
