Thailand with tweens

Hi,

considering a 2 week trip to Thailand next year with a 13 and 11 year old. My family lived there for a few years in Pattaya, which was ace fun, but a bit intense for tweens (they have been as toddlers, so the sex show stuff passed them by).

thinking Bangkok for a couple of days, Chiang Mai for 3-4 days then beach. I have done Krabi/Phi Phi which was amazing, and Koh Chang, but where else is good? Phuket is a bit like Pattaya from what I have heard. Koh Samui, Koh samet, Hua Hin? Where is a good place to go with tweens. Enough to keep us entertained, without being too full of full moon backpackers and dodgy sex tourists. My kids love Ru Paul, so a decent family lady boy show a la Tiffany’s would be good.

Planning on being quite adventurous, so any recent tips would be welcome!!

thanks!

Sounds like you know Thailand pretty well - I've been to all of the places you mention but not recently so hopefully someone else will come along soon with up to date advice.

I just wanted to say try not to pack too much in - Bangkok will be utterly overwhelming for them, they will be knackered. If you then want to to to Chiang May plus travel south to the beaches, that sounds like a lot.

I'd stick with two places - Bangkok + an island. Somewhere where they can snorkel, enjoy beach bars and exploring. They'll love it - good on you for wanting to take them somewhere fabulous

Koh lanta is lovely. More families less backpackers. More European tourists I'd say and less over touristy than Phuket or phi phi

Thanks both, I was thinking about Koh Lanta. Might do an air bnb villa for the beach part, there are gorgeous ones! Although the kids might want to make friends at a hotel resort.

A jungle safari in Khao Sok National park could be fun??
