Travel to the Airport with 3 kids + suitcases

We are going to Gatwick for a long haul flight in the summer but have 3 children, 2 of us and suitcases as well. I don't think we can book a regular taxi with so many of us. What would you do? Is hiring 2 big taxis the only way?

Phone around local firms and see what they can do. Many will have 7 seaters or minivans for just this type of thing.

Don't just book 2 taxis on the assumption that's what you need. Tell them how many of you there are, and how much luggage you have and let them sort out the rest.

No, you request a bigger taxi. My BIL's family booked an eight seater to LHR recently and I've booked a six seater before.

There is a company called airportr who collect your luggage from your home the day before travel. They only cover certain post codes and airlines but I remember they weren't as expensive as we'd thought and they check the luggage in for you so you don't see it until your destination. We had 2 small children at the time and a lot of luggage. Being able to travel without worrying about all of it was worth it.

Just book a seven seater or mini van

Thank you everyone, going to call around our local ones and see if they can accommodate all of with the luggage. Hopefully the 8 seaters work for us!
