Fast Track Child’s Passport

Just wondering if anyone has any recent experience getting an appointment for a fast track passport. I’ve been on the website the past couple of days to book and it says no appointments available.

We don’t travel until September and are willing to pay the extra for peace of mind it will get here on time- so it’s not imperative we get an appointment immediately. Just wondering how often appointments tend to come up at the moment with how crazy things seem to be.

It can’t be down to location as it didn’t ask for a postcode before saying nothing was available.

Some people I know have managed to get one at midnight, others have needed to sit and refresh for days.

If you’re not travelling for six months, why do you need fastrack? The last time we did all of ours, they were all back in a couple of weeks under a regular application.

It’s three months. And because at the moment the waiting times for a regular application are insane. Some people have been told 16 weeks- if that’s the case, it wouldn’t arrive on time. As I’ve said, we’re willing to pay the extra for fast track and for the peace of mind we will actually have the passport in time for flying.

Thank you. I’ll keep trying and definitely give it a go at midnight 🤞🏻😂

When I did this I got it done at Victoria (London) as they had the earliest appointments. Had to travel 70 miles including a ferry but worth it (son was travelling in two weeks).

Oh wow, that is quite a trek! We’re in Durham and I’ve heard the waiting times are ridiculous there at the moment. Glad you managed to get sorted!

You shouldn’t be using this service for this reason. You have MONTHS until you go. Passports are not taking 16 weeks for the overwhelmingly vast majority of people. These appointments are for people genuinely in need of an urgent fast track passport. This is so unnecessary when appointments are already scarce and really entitled

Ok, I’ll wait until a week before we go and still don’t have our passports like hundreds of other people are dealing with and then be buggered 👍🏻

I literally sat all day on my phone pressing refresh every few minutes, it finally came up with an appointment at 4:30 in the afternoon! I had also woken at midnight to try then but it didn't make any difference.
Luckily I managed to get an appointment at my most local office. The appointment was for 6 days after I made it.
I know it feels that the 'I'm sorry we have no appointments' msg won't change, it honestly does eventually. Dedicate yourself a nice quiet day where you can sit and watch Netflix and constantly press the refresh button on your phone! Good luck

I've just received my passport today - it took 12 days from start to finish!

Child renewal posted to Durham after regular online application took just over two weeks last month.

Littleroundsponge · 24/05/2022 22:42

If you follow @ukpassportcheck on twitter you will be notified when appointments go live. This is how I managed to book an appointment.

dementedpixie · 24/05/2022 22:43

Our child renewal took 3 weeks recently
