Where to stay around Lille

We are driving to France (Calais) in August. I fancy going to Lille maybe stopping at some nice villages on the way. Has anyone been there and can recommend nice villages to stop at or places to stay?

I don't know about villages but St. Omer, and Bergues are pretty towns.

The film 'Welcome to the Sticks' (Bienvenue chez les Chtis) is set in Bergues.

Also Cassel.
