Which resort in Menorca
onanotherday · 20/05/2022 18:23
Visited 30 years ago, loved Cala Gandana..but prices are high. Can anyone recommend another resort?
Whammyyammy · 20/05/2022 22:22
Cala en bosch. Has a great covrd beach, beautiful marina with msny restaurants and a nice walk up to the lighthouse.
Also has a water park nearby if that's your thing too.
But it's a lovely resort.
NCTDN · 22/05/2022 08:59
It depends what you are looking for, but Binibeca is gorgeous.
PAFMO · 22/05/2022 13:10
Came to say Cala Galdana. I was there in 1982, 1983, and three years ago.
I'd not stay anywhere else in Menorca I love it so much.
BobbinHood · 22/05/2022 13:11
I was going to say Cala Galdana too - you’re right about the prices though!

Are you taking children? How important is beach?
Santo Tomas is great for small children.
Cala n bosch for slightly older ones.
Avoid Cala n Porter.
onanotherday · 22/05/2022 17:01
Taking my two older teens. So swimming and cocktails...and a lot of mooching!
hippolyta · 22/05/2022 17:34
I'd say cala n bosch fits the bill.
A busy square with bars and restaurants, some with music but not a destination for adult nightlife.
The beach isn't the greatest but mine always preferred a pool once they past the age of sandcastles.
AnyFucker · 22/05/2022 17:41
My two favourite places on Menorca are Binibeca for access to Mahon, the eastern side and a day on Sa Mesquida beach which is gorgeous. There is also a nice beach at Binibeca itself and great restaurants to choose from with the white village itself and Cala Torret nearby. It’s quiet though (we like that). Lots of reasonable villas to choose from.
And also Cala Galdana to be closer to Cuitadella and the western side.

I like Pollensa town and find it non-touristy. But I'm not fussed about beaches so don't mind being inland. As long as I have a pool and a selection of nice authentic restaurants, I'm happy.
OverByYer · 22/05/2022 17:54
Cala n Bosch beach is great for snorkelling and cliff jumping . The marina is lovely. The bus to Mahon is regular and cheap as well

Pollenca is in Majorca. The OP is asking about Minorca!
BooseysMom · 22/05/2022 18:01
I still dream of Menorcs now and I went 30 years ago too! Stayed at Hotel Cala Blanca which had a short walk to a lovely secluded beach. I want to go back but sadly we can't afford to go abroad any more ..but one day i'm going and that's that!!
CampervanKween · 22/05/2022 18:17
We love Santandria or Cala Blanca as so close to Cuitadella which is my favourite city/town of all time. We go in most evenings when we stay in Menorca. Some beautiful virgin beaches nearby as well.
idontevenknowanyonecalledblurb · 22/05/2022 18:23
We stayed in ciutadella de menorca. Beautiful! Boat trips and fantastic restaurants by the water. Amazing paella and sangria and a great atmosphere

Pollensa is in Majorca ??
Lol! I wondered why in the whole thread to date no one had mentioned Pollensa, Will bow out ungracefully as I don't know Menorca at all!
CampervanKween · 22/05/2022 19:42
I mean Pollensa is beautiful 😍 so you're right to recommend it in general. Bit of a trek for op though. I love Menorca for its unspoilt beauty. More going on in Majorca, but Menorca is my favourite of the Balearics.
Cactusdancer · 22/05/2022 19:59
I also like Cala Blanca .
Spent some lovely chilled out holidays there.
Small resort with a handful of restaurants and bars nice little beach.
Next door to Santandria within easy walk which is lovely.
Easy to visit Cala n Bosch and Cuitadella both close by.
Nice places to spend a week or two.
CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/05/2022 21:32
Arenal d’en Castell has the most beautiful horseshoe bay and I loved it when mine were tiny but I wouldn’t go there now they are tweens and teens. The beach is very shallow and ‘safe’, not great for water sports and there aren’t many bombard or restaurants.
A friend of mine really rates Cala en Porter and Son Bou but I don’t know either of them. Cuitadella is one of my favourite places.
I would personally look at Majorca or Ibiza with teens instead of Menorca.
Cornishbelle · 23/05/2022 13:54
Another vote for cala n bosch, nice hotel there mar hotels group think it's called paradise club
onanotherday · 25/05/2022 08:29
Lots of ideas, thank you all. We have done both Majorca and Ibiza, but neither are clubbers, so looking for a chilled time.
TomAllenWife · 25/05/2022 08:39
Those recommending Cala n Bosch, how long ago did you go???
I used to go with the dcs and loved it (around 2010)
However went last year and it was so sad, lots of restaurants closed after pandemic and didn't re open
Bars and restaurants boarded up
Shops boarded up, even the perfumeria had closed.
It appeared run down and desolate and was quite depressing compared to how it used to be
