Nepal

I'm fascinated by Nepal and would love to go to Kathmandu. I'm terrified of flying but now I'm in my 30s I would like to try and conquer my fears. My Mum thinks I'd be crazy to attempt Nepal as a first flight.

Anyway I was just wondering how others have found travelling there? Did you enjoy it?

Another worry I have is that we are vegan - do you think it would be difficult for us to eat there?

Also do people generally speak English there? I am good with languages and wouldn't mind trying to learn some Nepali.

Thanks in advance!

Probably too late to be any use but… everyone that comes in contact with tourists speaks passable English. Lots of people are vegetarian so that is easy, totally vegan is definitely possible but not in all restaurants. If you fly there you need to change, so it’s 4 flights on a round trip, flying into Kathmandu get seats on the left and views of the Himalayas, on the right on the way out. It’s a wonderful country and cheap once you get there. But I might try a cheap flight to Paris first, if it’s really awful you can get a train back.
