Passport question

What's the official position on passport validity/expiry?
Mine expires in mid April 2023.
Would I be ok to travel to the Netherlands in mid August 2022 for a 5 day break?
I keep seeing horror tales of travellers being turned away at UK airports and borders on issues around passport validity and how long left till expiry.

What's the issue date on your passport?
10 years from the issue date is the expiry date even if the printed expiry date says something else.

If the date of travel in mid 2022, is more than 10 years after your passport was issued then it's not valid for travel.

For EU it's 3 months remaining on it for travel so up to January 23 for you, provided it wasn't issued before August 2012.

As a result of Brexit, UK passport holders face two tests for entering the Schengen area comprising almost all of the European Union plus Switzerland, Iceland and Norway.

One is about the issue date: on the day of arrival the passport must be less than 10 years old.

The other is about the expiry date: on the intended day of departure from the Schengen area, it must have at least three months remaining.

Those two conditions are independent, as the European Commission confirmed in November 2021.

My passport was issued on 25.04.2013, expiry date 25.04.2023. Would I be ok to travel to Netherlands in August 2022 for a few days? No other foreign travel planned.
