Has anyone done this recently ?
it seems we need to do a video test as they won’t accept it otherwise .
can anyone confirm if this is correct ?
I am finding it hard to find this info online

thank you !

Yes that is correct, either a video test or an in person clinic, it has to be observed.

Techno56 · 02/05/2022 20:41

One of my friends travelled a few weeks ago. She went to a private test centre where the staff carried out and LFT on them all and they waited for the results. They were then given test certificates to upload which allowed them to fly.

dkedm15 · 02/05/2022 20:47

We flew mid April and went to a Randox centre the day before flying (per US guidance) where they did an LFT for us and we got emailed the results with a flight certificate within an hour which we then uploaded x

indigoemerald · 02/05/2022 20:48

We are booked in for a video supervised LFT with DocHQ in a couple of weeks. They seemed to be one of the only companies which send you the certificate straightaway, which is reassuring for me as it means we can check in online straightaway and select our seats (check in opens 7am and it’s a long flight so we want good seats!) - most others I looked into said they produce the certificate 2-4 hours after the appointment.

waltty · 02/05/2022 21:20

We used Doc HQ in February, very easy , they watched us do an LFT , then sent certificates to say -VE

Glenthebattleostrich · 02/05/2022 21:21

We used prenetics. DocHQ have a good reputation too.

BritWifeInUSA · 03/05/2022 06:11

With any luck it will be abolished soon. It’s crazy that air arrivals have to show a negative test but land and sea arrivals don’t.

It doesn’t have to a be a video test. Just has to be observed by a professional.

newlabelwriter · 03/05/2022 06:18

for work I had to organise this for my boss. We’d normally use Project Screen but weren’t able to as couldn’t guarantee turn around over bank holiday (v last minute trip). She went into a clinic (not in London and googled local to her) to get hers done and arranged for her to be tested with 3-6 hour test results (you need to be tested within 24 hours of flying).
All really easy and they emailed her certificate within a few hours and I emailed to the airline for check in (along with barcode for vaccine passport) and now, thankfully, she’s in the States. Wasn’t cheap though and cost £150 (although that was because we needed it quickly).

Srtonger · 03/05/2022 07:30

Thank you .
we are travelling Monday next week so looks like going to have the test observed is best option as may not get postal / video tests in time .
Not much chance of them being scrapped in the next week unfortunately.

I travel to us regularly. In April I used breathe assured test, £24, carried out via ms teams. Just booked them again as travelling on 12th, £29. But it's easy to do and they email fit to fly cert immediately.

Had to wear mask on outbound flight (american Airlines) not on both internal or return flights???.
Hopeful all scrapped soon.

Whammyyammy · 03/05/2022 12:25

Also avoid the airport test facilities. The one outside Heathrow T3 was so busy with a huge queue from what I saw.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 03/05/2022 13:42

The test will have to be observed by a professional medical person the day before you travel. It does not have to be a video test.

Masks are no longer required on either British or American based carriers for flights to and from the US.

Srtonger · 03/05/2022 16:15

Thank you
we are going on American Airlines so very glad to hear we won’t need to wear a mask on the flight.

Fabpinky · 03/05/2022 16:45

Silly question but what do you do with the certificate once it’s issued? Upload it somewhere or just have it on hand to show?

Frazzled2207 · 03/05/2022 16:49

american colleagues went home the other day and they got an LFT done in person at a city centre clinic the other day. Either the professional did it for them or observed it. Anyway they paid about £30 and got a result within the hour, the day before their flight.

TinaYouFatLard · 03/05/2022 16:52

I did one today with Breathe Assured. It’s very straightforward and they send the certificate while you’re still on the call. You do have to have the tests already though, so you’d need to buy online soon to have them by Monday.

Srtonger · 03/05/2022 17:36

have ordered from breathassured . Appointment for observed test made for Sunday as flying Monday morning.
I just really hope it all goes to plan and the tests arrive in time . They say next day delivery so fingers crossed.

TinaYouFatLard · 03/05/2022 20:45

@Srtonger we've used Breathe Assured several times now and the tests usually arrive really quickly.

PurrBox · 03/05/2022 20:48

We have flown to the US repeatedly and just used Confirm testing LFT, not observed, for £12.50. No one questioned it.

Whammyyammy · 04/05/2022 11:27

My breathe assured test arrived this morning, less than 24hrs from ordering.

Good news on masks too, AA also confirmed no longer needed. They were really strict last month, ensuring you pulled it down to sio your drink then straight back up.

Srtonger · 04/05/2022 18:44

I had an email saying my tests will be with me in 24-48 hours So in plenty of time .

Looks like we are staying at an airport hotel now the night before the flight so could have just gone to a walk in appointment at the airport and saved this stress 😬

fingers crossed now for no security queues or flight cancellations

Whammyyammy · 06/05/2022 00:08

The walk in at Heathrow T3 two week's ago had a very large queue, I didn't use it as had cert from breathe assured. I saw the queue and thought its a stress you could do without. Imagine failing the test at the airport too....

Srtonger · 06/05/2022 07:53

Tests arrived in plenty of time and appointment booked .
just hope the test is negative !!
