Testing at airports
Greenflamingo84 · 30/04/2022 23:06
I addition to following the destination country rules is there extra testing in the uk airport. E.g. if destination country has no restrictions might you need to test anyway for the airline or have temp checked?

Doubt it as free testing is pretty much over.
A lot of countries don't ask for testing if you are vaccinated

The airlines must follow the rules of the country the flight is going to. Eg USA requires test but Switzerland does not
It’s the same for masks

Not unless you forget your vaccination certificate.
If you do, off to the test centre you go before they'll let you fly.

This happened to me yesterday - my vaccination certificate hadn’t been verified by the NHS app (I didn’t check beforehand - I assumed I had it!) and I had to get a test.
Was quite close - I almost missed my flight. Luckily I only needed to get a lateral flow, which took about 40 mins all in all.
Give yourself an hour to save the stress if you don’t have the vaccine certificate (like me! Although I have it now!).
But if you need PCR that was a 4 hour wait yesterday.

Travel to Holland end of June on British passport from Belfast.
My friend has been double vaccinated but doesn't wish to have the booster required as original vacs were over 270 days ago. Can't get a covid recovery cert as didn't have a pcr, only a lateral flow when had covid last month. Has anyone any suggestions please? Thanks

Get the booster or don't go, is my advice as they don't accept a negative test for travel

My experience has been that as long as you have Covid pass available on your phone it's pretty much back to normal in UK apart from the queues at security due to short staffing.
Masks no longer mandatory in UK airport and on flights it depends on the airline .
If you are travelling to Europe be aware there is an extra step (queue) in some countries (Spain anyway) as they stamp your passport .
