Gatwick fast track security

Haven’t been to Gatwick for ages, previously had no issues with getting through security after bag drop off but this time we are going Saturday morning of the May half term and worried airports are going to have issues like at Easter with queues etc - anyone used Gatwick recently / over the Easter school holidays is it worth me paying for the fast track security? There’s a discount on it at the mo, for the 4 of us will be £16

I would, it’s a small price to pay for what is usually a great service.

We go the Friday. Have booked it, Gatwick was awful beforehand so not taking the risk!

When I went 2 weeks ago there wasn't a dedicated fast track lane open. You just got popped out at the top of the normal lanes and had to push your way into their lane meaning you (understandably) got lots of glares. This was South terminal which was mostly a bit of a disaster as many shops and restaurants hadn't opened. Hopefully it will be better by half term!!

We went through the North terminal the Saturday before Easter. Glad we didn't bother with it as it would have been a waste of time as at best it might have saved us 10 minutes.

Ummm, I was thinking about this. However, we paid for this before Covid, and the morning we went, no-one was monitoring the lanes, so everyone was just pushing in to the fast track, which completely made useless us paying the extra. In fact, the queues for the standard were shorter 😡

We went through Gatwick on Friday, it was fine. Hardly any wait at al and they are trialling scanners where you don’t need to separate your liquid bag from the rest of your bags. Wry quick and efficient.

I was monitoring the airport Twitter and had planned to purchase fast track on the day if it looked super busy but we had loads of time and everything moved quickly.
