Germany - Trying to Keep Everyone Happy - Europa Park Vs Forests & Hikes Where To Be Based ?

Anyone got any tips or suggestions on where to base ourselves, researching a 4-day break this August. Teenagers want to go to Europa park but I don't want to spend all four days there and want to see the fairytale castle/ hikes/forest.
Anyone know the area/been before any hints on how to keep everyone happy thanks

Freiburg is lovely, my teens love it.
We are going to Munich this July but its a bit far from Europa Park

Europa Park is fun. There is a new Water park next to it now. Is supposed to be excellent. Hotel Badischerhof looks nice
If you mean Neuschwanstein Castle that’s 4 hours from EP. Maybe better for you could be 2 nights in two seperate locations. Also I think you need to book in advance for the castle

I would also stay in 2 different places then. If you like waterparks too, I would do 1 day of Rulantica, stay in one of the Europapark hotels, day 2 of Europapark. It's massive, you can very easily spend a full day there, I would not plan anything else on that day.

Then drive to one of the small villages in France like Eguisheim, Ribeauville, Rixheim - they're just an hour away. There's a big castle in Kaysersberg (note though this is a medieval fortress, not a fairytale one) and many hiking trails. And the villages are very cute. Here are some hiking recommendations: www.outdooractive.com/en/route/hiking-route/alsace/turckheim-to-eguisheim/40895665/

Unless you are desperate for Neuschwanstein I would suggest Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg south of Strasbourg. The whole area is good for hikes, great wines and lots of medival towns be it Strasbourg or Colmar.

Neuschwanstein looks lovely but it is a quite small neo-gothic castle with tiny dark rooms. Honestly, totally overhyped in my opinion.
