Stressing out - applied for childs passport online but was not asked for details of countersignatory
NoMoreLimbo · 28/04/2022 09:59
Well as it says above. I just put thorugh DD (12) passport application online. Uploaded photo etc etc. I was only asked to send in her old passport (expired 7 years ago) but there was no option to enter details of the person who will verify the photo.
She is quite clearly completely different looking now to when the first passport was issued.
I was also not asked to send in a birth certificate.
Has anyone else applied for a childs passport online recently and experienced the same?

If they are aged 12+ they don't need a countersignature unless they look vastly different from the old photo
dementedpixie · 28/04/2022 10:14
Can she still be recognised from the old photo?
Don't need a birth certificate for a renewal as they had that for the first passport

The online service would have gone by her age and won't have prompted for a countersignature. Once they receive the old passport and have the whole application they will decide whether you need a countersignature due to a change in appearance. Its a just a matter of waiting and seeing what happens

Yep recently did my kids - both returned in two weeks no counter signature required 😊

Thanks all.
@dementedpixie She looks completely different now. The original passport is a photo of her at age 2 months! So it could be any old baby and any other child now. It could be two completely different children.
I am now regretting doing this online as they will surely need a countersignatory on this but if I had done it paper route it had all been in there already. Ho hum ho hum
We are only travelling in August so I really really hope that it will be sorted then even with current delays
dementedpixie · 28/04/2022 10:57
When they get the application they may ask for a countersignature but that will all be done online too so you'd need the email address for whoever that will be. Have it all ready in case they ask for it. Paper applications are taking longer than online ones so it could still end up being faster than that.
NoMoreLimbo · 28/04/2022 11:08
@dementedpixie yes, I have the email address already so that bit is fine.
I know it is pointless lamenting against the bureacruacy of it all but imagine how much smoother it would have been if one could have had the option to include that too straight away.

When I renewed DD's passport recently (3 weeks ago), it was about a week or so after that i was asked to provide a countersignatory. All done online, no issues and received passport approx a week later x

They will just come back to you for a countersign in the coming weeks as others have said. I’ve just done a friends amd they sent theirs off 4/5 weeks ago. They then asked for a countersign
NoMoreLimbo · 04/05/2022 14:02
They have come back and said that they have received the passport so hopefully it will not be too long before next steps
