Our in-laws want to take us away either feb half term or first week of Easter 2023.. we only seem to be able to come up with Barbados or Canaries!

Anywhere at all dodgy will be ruled out.. canaries seem boring and Barbados expensive!? Ideas?

An Hawaiian cruise? I don't know how big your family is but it's roughly $2000 per person plus flights (it's on my bucket list!!)

Exactly how many of you will be going? Assuming it's just four, all adults... I'd say Porto Seguro in Brazil as it's really cheap and you can offset the cost of the flights easily. Great beaches, lots to do all year round and very safe (provided you don't go for a walk down the beach at midnight by yourselves and wearing fancy clothes or really just shiny anything). I lived there for a while and it's a nice place to go on holiday. If there's anyone with serious health issues stay away.
If you want to stay in Europe, I've lived in Italy too and it's a fab place to go on a road trip that time of year. Even tiny little villages are adorable and people are wonderful. The weather should be nice anywhere below Venice that time of year (the further south, the warmer). Just stay close to one of the main cities like Florence, Venice or Rome and do avoid Milan (people are always really disappointed by it tbh).
Porto is nice and has it all but it would entail quite a bit of walking up and down. The closer to easter the nicer the weather though keep in mind people start going to the beach from the end of march.

You've really got to say how big your family is and the ages of the children.

Oceanus · 28/04/2022 01:45

If the kids are young and still in a pram avoid Porto.

Since you've only got a week I wouldn't go all the way to Hawaii for a cruise - that would be madness! Barbados (or another Caribbean island) is a decent idea, as is a fabulous hotel in the Canaries. Oman would be another option. Or if you want to do something completely different, what about Lapland?

Lapland

Sorry, will be 6 of us, 4 adults and 2 kids aged 6 and 7 at the time.

I do think Barbados looks good but just seems so expensive to me!

Dubai or Abu Dhabi?
Florida
Do you want somewhere warm as northern Scandinavia could be amazing at Feb half term for snow & huskies etc.

stormsurfer · 28/04/2022 20:35

Iceland or Norway if you like cold.

Jordan or Oman if you like hot.

Your right Barbados it's very pricey. Look at Jamaica and Dominican Republic.
