Maldives at Easter

It's a big birthday for me next year and I've always wanted to go back to the Maldives. We were very fortunate to go many many years ago when we got a good cancellation deal, it was a beautiful quiet secluded island but this time we'll have an 11 year old with us and I want to try and get an Island that he will have things to do, good accommodation, maybe a little plunge pool, etc.

At present DS is happy if he has a beach or pool (and wifi) nearby so I'm not too worried about entertaining him, but my DH is convinced if we go to a quieter island it'll be a mistake.

So I looked at Hard Rock. DH is happy with it, me not so much, it feels too commercialised. Ideally it would be something in between huge and tiny, does it exist? I did like the look of Siyam World but that apparently is also huge and even a travel agent I use was very reluctant to price it up for us saying it's not 'very Maldive like'.

So I'm a bit flummoxed and open to suggestions please. Thank you

Have you looked at the Kuramathi, it's one of the larger Islands and there is plenty to do.

They have overwater villas with a plunge pool.

Just to update, we have booked Siyam World in the end. The water accommodations all have slides going into the water, little plunge pools too and a big inflatable water park to hopefully help keep the 11 year old happy (though as long as there is WiFi he should be OK). What swung it for me was the All Inclusive is advertised as fully all inclusive, rather than some islands which said 'you're all inclusive if you're on this part of the island, you can't go on that part of the island' so it's all booked now and we can get excited.

If anyone is interested in it, we booked using Kenwood Travel.

@MiniCooperLover I've been looking at this resort, how was it? Hope you had a great time!

We did thank you! It was a fantastic place. Tiring journey with the stop overs but generally not too bad. Only downside was the 'under 12s' menu which was a bit basic considering how great the food was for adults. But they seemed to be trying to work on improving the kids menus. Water slide from apartment went down very well with DS (then 11 3/4 annoyingly). ... 👍

@MiniCooperLover thanks for replying! Was it a very large resort? I know people have said about it not being very 'Maldivian' but would be good to hear your thoughts! The slides look awesome!

Yes a pretty large one but they've got a fantastic little bus service that runs all around in all the different directions. It's very family orientated in both the accommodations, menus and facilities. A lot of the more traditional aren't and so I suppose that's what people mean about 'not very Maldivian'. However I've been to the smaller traditional less child Friendly Islands and I think they've done a great job of creating a great island. The food was excellent and champagne free!
