First city break with a toddler

We’re desperate to get away. Where would you go? It would be about 3 days as can’t last too long with poor sleep, so only a few hours away max.
I love the idea of Italy but not sure how child friendly that is.

A bit of new scenery, places to eat that are kid friendly (good food!) and maybe some fun museums or good parks to run around.

Italy is probably the most child friendly country to visit. Try to go before it gets too warm. Rome or Florence are better for children than Milan in my experience.

I found Italy a pain with a toddler, they eat very late- my child is quite British structured and found it such a hassle to find them a dinner early enough that was McDonald’s.

Definitely not Rome with a toddler.Â
Copenhagen is perfect. The best things to do with children that age are Tivoli, the amazing Blue Planet aquarium, a canal boat cruise, the zoo (which has all the big-ticket animals including a pair of giant pandas), Experimentarium and the Hans Christian Andersen experience. The National Museum also has a Children’s Museum, with a replica viking ship you can mess about on, costumes to try and plenty of hands-on exhibits.
There are lots of playgrounds, restaurants with kids menus and the transport is easy to use with a pushchair.  Adina Apartment Hotel gets good reviews, although I’ve never actually stayed there myself. We stay at Tivoli Hotel which has interconnecting family rooms. Once you make a reservation you can make requests, for instance on a room on a low floor or a cot, just write it in the comment field.Â
We also found Barcelona good for toddlers. The best attractions were Tibidabo, the zoo (I don’t really enjoy dolphin shows, but DD still talks about it to this day), aquarium, magic fountain, CosmoCaixa, Park Guell and El Poble Espanyol.  We also spent a while on the beach.

I found Rome unbearably busy and I've been to it different times of the year and can't imagine anything worse with a pushchair.
