Book now or wait for passport?

I am currently waiting for a replacement for my lost passport. Last time I checked it just said 'Application being processed12:46pm on 19 April 2022'.

I've had my ephoto verified, but how long are they taking these days?

I'm desperate to book a holiday [most likely Italy] in August, but should I wait until my passport comes back and then book something, or could I book the holiday and x my fingers?

I posted my passport back on the 15th April and received a text yesterday to say it is done and being passed to the despatch team so it hasn’t taken long at all.

We are going away at the end of August and I’ve sent off for my sons passport renewal last week. I’d think it should be back by August but you never know!

@TangMustang that sounds promising. Out of curiosity which office did you send it to?

I sent off my renewal 2nd April and it came back yesterday

I sent my sons first passport beginning of April. It's just come back.

I sent it to Bootle and on the tracking bit it says it was approved on the 19th and printed on the 22nd. Pretty good going. Kudos the PO staff.

It just took 3 weeks from applying online to having the new passport in my hand. Applied at the end of March.
