Marwell Zoo is quite close to Winchester.

There is also a place called Finkley Down Farm which is in Andover - not far from Winchester - my dd LOVES Finkley, I'm not sure it's open all year round though = they have a website - just google the farm name!!!!

In the town or around? Marwell Zoo is good. The recreation centre has a good playground.

this thread and this one might help

Paultons Park ( a theme park with great rides etc) is not too far away. Its at Ower, junction 2 of the M27. Suits children aged from circa 18 months to 12/13 yrs.

Hillier gardens and arboretum(in Ampfield) about 5-10 miles outside Winchester, between Romsey and Winchester, are just lovely botanical gardens. Very child friendly as no dogs allowed hence dog poo free. I take my 2 year old there all the time, but older children up to the age of 10 or so seem to enjoy it too. If you are going at the weekend, they have Santa's grotto there at the moment (delightful, you enter the grotto via a 'woodland walk), but you would need to book. I'm sure they have a website with contact numbers.

I'll post again if I think of more.

I second Marwell zoo - its fab.
