We are looking ahead to next year's summer holiday and hoping to go to Kefalonia. Package holidays for a week via places like Tui are coming in at about 2k for SC so going to go down the DIY route.

I was pretty surprised (and excited) to see that Easyjet fly from Edinburgh to Kefalonia as it tends to be flights from England to the less 'commercial' areas of Greece so it would save us on travel down south/overnight stay etc if an early flight. I've found a fantastic looking apartment in Kefalonia via Booking.com which doesn't come up often and want to secure it asap, but am a bit stuck as to when exactly to book it for as Easyjet haven't yet released their summer 2023 flights.

Going by this year, they are flying to Kefalonia from end of June to some time in September, only Thursdays and Sundays. What is the likelihood of these still being the flight days for 2023? Do airlines tend to vary their days from year to year or stick to the same ones? If anyone can advise that would be great!

Could you book at a free cancellation price, rather than the no cancellation price? If not, I might be tempted to book the holiday I wanted with the idea to stay elsewhere for a night or two if the flights don't match the booking.

I'd do what Janek suggests. In fact, I do!
easyJet are still pretty good for a low-cost but I'd book the accommodation first on that basis. If the flight schedule changes by a day or so, you'll be able to amend the booking probably.

Book the apartment but add free cancellation to it. If the price difference is considerable, you can then cancel it and rebook at a lower price once you’ve confirmed your flights, or simply amend the dates. If you go through Booking this will be very easy.

EasyJet should keep the same schedule for next year but it’s never 100% guaranteed.

EasyJet holidays are on sale for next summer. This might give you a clue on flights, or give you a holiday package you can book.

We used booking.com for a UK holiday last year.
Never again ! One hotel was very expensive & dreadful - so many things were wrong.

Booking.com weren't interested - even when I showed them some nasty comments that had been made about them by the hotel manager !

Easyjet do their own holidays - might be worth looking into.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I tried doing an easyjet holiday with a hotel local to the property I liked but it wasn't coming up as an option next year to fly from Edinburgh. I showed DS the place I liked the look of and he hated it (think its because its not got a big pool with slides etc Sad). I know its us paying for the holiday but he has ADHD and gets bored easily, think he might get fed up quite quickly. Am now wondering if we should just stick with eurocamp type places for the time being as they offer a lot for the kids without breaking the bank.
