Denmark beach holiday

Wondering about going to Denmark in August, (kids are 4 and 7). Thinking a couple of days in Copenhagen and then driving to a coastal area and renting a self catering place. Never been before so wondered if anyone has an recommendations for areas on the beach? Ideally with a small town in walking distance for wandering to. Will also factor in a Legoland trip.
(also please tell me it's not freezing!)

We’ve been to Denmark a few times. Absolutely love it. You get warm days and if you go towards end of August you may have the beach to yourselves as the Danish school holidays are over.

Legoland is a long way from Copenhagen though.

Hornbaek North of Copenhagen is a lovely seaside place. If you go South instead, you have the island of Mon and the Marielyst area, also with gorgeous beaches.

But everywhere in Denmark is lovely.

I recommend looking on the Novasol website, we usually book through them and they have area guides, too.

Obviously don’t miss the Tivoli in Copenhagen. It’s most magical after dark.

If you really want to go to Legoland then I’d probably fly to Billund and spend the beach holidays near there. The island of Fano is paradise!
