Slovenia and Croatia

Has anyone done a two-centre holiday between Ljubliana in Slovenia and the Croatian coast or islands? If so, how –what forms of transport, frm where to where is easiest/best served?
I'm thinking of doing it but would be getting public transport, and confess I'm feeling bamboozled by the train/bus/ferry 'info' online.
TIA.

Yes!
Did Ljubljana, Bled and then down to Rovinj. Absolutely beautiful places and an epic holiday. Unfortunately I can't advise on public transport, though I know there are buses between Ljubljana and Rovinj that take about 3 hours and buses from Ljubljana to Bled that are under an hour.

Thank you! Was thinking Rovinj might be a bit busy though (am probably going late Aug/early Sept). But it does look beautiful.

We went in school holidays and it was busy but not crazily so. Stayed in a hotel on Island Katerina just off the mainland (5 minute boat across) so slightly out of the town and nice and quiet.

Great tip, thank you!

We’re doing this in the summer. FlixBus may have the routes you’re looking for. Where are you looking at on the Croatian coast?

Honestly not that fussy; I'd be happy, I think, to look at where is easy to get to from Slovenia and go from there. Or possibly get a bus to a biggish coastal town in Croatia and then go to stay on an island.

A bit late to reply, but I did this many moons ago (2004!). We got a train from Ljubljana to Zagreb - didn't take that long, I don't think - then a night train from Zagreb to Split. Straight onto a ferry after that and went to Hvar and Vis. Would particularly recommend Vis. Beautiful island! I loved it.

A quick google has shown that this night train still runs...
