My son and a couple of mates are off to reading this year , we are dropping off and was thinking of camping somewhere. Is there anywhere nice to visit around reading ? Places to stay ?

I don't know anything about camping but I live near Reading.
Nice places to visit:
Henley on Thames
Marlow
Pangbourne
Windsor

Swiss Farm in Henley and Hurley Riverside Park are both nice for camping, if you want to be near the river.
Or there are some places up in the Chilterns (near Lane End, or Watlington) if you’d like views.

From Reading you can cycle along the Kennet and Avon Canal, all the way to Bath if you want.

Swiss Farm Camping at Henley might be worth a look. All villages near the Thames are lovely and there’s plenty to see and do in the area. Go for walks in the Chilterns, visit Greys Court and Nuffield Place and drive to Wittenham Clumps for a picnic and see the White Horse at Uffington. I also agree that the Kennett and Avon Canal is great and Pewsey is worth a look at the rural canal. Very different to central Reading.
