We are visiting Legoland and staying at Lalandia in a couple of weeks & Just wondering if anyone has any tips or recommendations?
In particular is the Gold wristband at Lalandia worth it?
Also any ways to get cheap tickets/discounts for Lego land park entry?

We went pre covid and I'm sure we bought joint tickets for both Lego House and Legoland on the Lego House website.

We loved Lego House so much we went twice in a week!

jetadore · 09/04/2022 10:41

Thanks! how many days would you recommend we allocate to spend at Lego land itself? For tickets Did you shop around for discounts much before buying from the Lego website?

What do you want to do in Legoland? The rides, driving school, spending time meandering around miniland?

One day will probably be enough in the park but you might miss a few things if its particularly busy.

UselessTrees · 09/04/2022 10:46

I seem to remember I bought some German/Danish 2-for-1 vouchers for Legoland on eBay, similar to the ones they do here on cereal packets etc. Might be worth checking if you can find anything like that, but this was a few years ago. Lego House was still fairly new then so there didn't seem to be much in the way of discounts on offer, but it was brilliant so we didn't mind that. Make sure you book a slot asap in the restaurant if you want to eat there.

I don't remember there being different levels of Lalandia wristbands, pretty sure ours were just standard ones. We went in early April and it felt very 'off-season' so there wasn't a lot of queuing or forward-booking needed for activities and the restaurants. Again, might be different now!

Mainly rides & driving yes, kids are 7&11 so mini land probably not that interesting for them. Sounds like they will enjoy Lego house

At 7&11 one day in the park (and the House separately, that wasn't really a thing when we went 5 years ago) will be totally fine. Ours were 5&7 so we needed to do the younger bits and older bits. 7yo should be able to go on 95% of stuff, think there was one ride ours was too small for.

Thanks for the tip! Did you eat at the Lego land or Lego house restaurant? what’s it like? Lalandia are offering a gold wristband for around £18 per person that gives unlimited ‘free’ use of the indoor activities like bowling, ski slope, adventure tower, etc. Don’t know if it’s worth it or better to just book as you go?

My biggest tip is DEFINITELY have the Danish hotdogs with all the trimmings. Unless you’re veggie/vegan that is...

So tasty. It’s the first thing I eat when I go home - there’s a stand in arrivals at the airport and it’s my must-have stop as soon as I’m back on Danish soil! The red ones are my favourite but they’re all good. Ristet hotdog, Franske hotdog, all yummy.

Also have the traditional Danish ice creams in a cone (you will get huge servings. Don’t get 2 or 3 scoops each for the children as they won’t be able to finish it). Pastries are much nicer than the ‘Danish pastries’ you get here. Worth going to a konditori/bakery/naice cafeteria and enjoying them properly.

UselessTrees · 09/04/2022 11:50

@jetadore The Mini Chef restaurant in the Lego House. It has a Lego-based ordering system and your food gets delivered down a conveyor belt in Lego bento boxes! Expensive but my DC still talk about it now Smile Looks like you can book a table in advance on the website.

UselessTrees · 09/04/2022 11:57

The wristband thing sounds like it might be good value, especially if you get some dodgy weather. I think we did mini golf, a couple of goes on the bungee trampoline things, ice skating. I'm sure it all added up when paid separately.

Nnique · 09/04/2022 12:00

The weather in DK is exactly like here btw - you could have lovely sunny spring weather the whole time if you’re lucky but it’s also very likely that it might rain the entire time. So on that basis I’d suggest that if you can afford it the unlimited free use would be useful to have in case you need to spend the whole time indoors.

jetadore · 09/04/2022 12:56

Thanks all, I think we’ll do the gold wristband as if only need 1 day at legoland we’ll have at least a couple of days to kill (depending on the weather too).

@Nnique
aisde from the airport where is a good place to get these hotdogs?

OP posts:
Nnique · 09/04/2022 13:15

Everywhere really (although there are fewer stands now apparently? I’ve not been home for quite a few years now...). They’ll look something like this - there are bigger ones too - or proper built-in permanent kiosks, and you can get a beer with it for the adults and a chocolate milk carton for the children for the full Danish experience! You either buy it and eat at the counter or take it away and eat at a bench or something.

If you’re going out into a nearby town one day then just have a wander round the town centre and there should be one or two stands.

There’ll likely be somewhere on premise where you can buy them, too.

Don’t go for any fancy/organic/hipster versions. You’ve got to have the proper old fashioned ones! The one that’s called Franske dog (inside a baguette-style bread) has a dressing that’s very like salad cream and although it’s deceptively simple-looking it’s tasty.

I’ve made myself hungry now!! Grin

Nnique · 09/04/2022 13:36

Start with the red hotdog though. That’s the best one IMO.

jetadore · 09/04/2022 14:54

@Nnique Thanks, will definitely give it a go and report back!

I realise I must come across as heavily invested in this...

Hope you have a lovely time! Denmark is a great place to visit.

Thanks, really looking forward to the -hotdogs- trip now! Love a bit of street food. Do you by any chance have anyone you know in Denmark you could ask if there's any promotions running (e.g. Kellogs coupons) for Legoland over there at the moment?
OP posts:
InkySquid · 14/04/2022 16:29

I think the hotdogs are one of those things that if you grew up with them as a Dane you might think they're amazing but they're not that great to foreigners so don't build them up in your mind too much @jetadore :-)

I would say a day in Legoland and a day at the Lego house. I'm pretty sure that it's cheaper to book in advance than turn up on the day and when we were in Denmark last the Lego house was sold out but that was when there were more COVID restrictions in place.

Nnique · 14/04/2022 16:34

Oh god please don’t go in expecting some kind of mythical hotdog of ambrosia-like awesomeness!! 🤣🤣

They’re not that special but they are a fairly cheap tasty meal and good value for money (or were last I was there...).

I’ve not got anyone I could ask on coupons etc, I’m afraid! For various reasons basically everyone I know doesn’t live there atm.

Haha, thanks for the reality check but I'm pinning all my hopes on these hotdogs as I'm soon going to have to break it to the kids there doesn't appear to be a McD in Billund!

Have got the Lego house booked now, more because it's cheaper online, doesn't look like it'd be sold out. Will book the Legoland online too this weekend for same reason unless I hear of some 2for1 offer.

How did the holiday go? We are looking at going next year anything you can say to sway us?

jetadore · 11/10/2022 21:37

@Favouritefruits it was great, I’d really recommend. The Lalandia resort is good, equivalent to center parcs in my opinion. The only downside was the restaurants/food options weren’t great, but we quite happily graze/self cater so wasn’t a big iissue. The gold wristbands were worth it as we all found activities we liked and did them daily. Legoland was nice, much smaller than Windsor, but also more low key, and ideal for under 10s, the rollercoasters were just the right amount of scary for our 8 yo. Lego house is amazing and worth the trip alone if you’re into Lego. Our trip didn’t coincide with any local holidays so that probably made a big difference, as nowhere felt too busy.

Actually the reason I came back to this thread is we got addicted to hotdogs a discount for rebooking so we’re going again this autumn! This time I want to do a day trip by train to somewhere in Denmark, was wanting recommendations of places to visit. The nearest likely looking destinations are Aarhus and Odense, Copenhagen looks a bit far. Which of these is better, or anywhere else we should consider?

OP posts:
DarkMatternix · 12/10/2022 08:16

Aarhus is nice - I really liked the open air museum

www.dengamleby.dk/en/den-gamle-by/about/

Were you specifically after a city visit or just something else to see? You could get the train to Esbjerg and then a ferry to Fanø - although probably quite weather dependent. There are some nice things to do in Esbjerg too,I like the deer park and the fisheries museum but I'm not sure how accessible they are by public transport
