Holiday in Nice. Location / Airbnb ??

We are going to Nice to August. Family of 4.
What is the best area to stay in ? We love history and architecture.

Also, would you book a more expensive Airbnb with more room and nicer decor or a cheaper on that is smaller but still nice enough ?

Thanks

Nice isn't too big and lots of transport options so I'd probably say location isn't that important (though we are happy to walk plenty). I've stayed near the train station a couple of times and also down closer to the seafront. Hotel Suisse is a great location I think.

Nice is just lovely, I'm sure you'll have a great time wherever you stay.

As above everywhere in Nice is walkable. I've stayed on the seafront in the Radisson and la Negresco. A bit further back at the hotel Hi ( a quirky eco hotel - I think it has a new name now) and in an airbnb looking out across the port. All locations were great - the Radisson was a longer walk to the old town but it put on a free minibus if you couldn't face the walk - however it was lovely walking back along the seafront at night - and the roof top pool was amazing.
La Negresco was for a special anniversary and an amazing experience but very expensive.
The Port location Airbnb was beautiful and so convenient but it was a little noisy at times - the building was old and full of character but NO double glazing so you could hear everything from the street below.

Enjoy your trip. It is my favourite place to spend a long weekend in and I try and go every couple of years.

The old town near the flower market - Cours Saleya is lovely.
