Is the premier security/passport control at Gatwick worth it?

We are flying on Good Friday, early doors (0710 flight) with 3 kids including a 4 yr old.

Been hearing horror stories of chaos so wondering whether it is worth paying the extra?

I'm not sure what stage exactly is causing the hold ups?

It’s worth it, IMHO. Just check it is definitely open before you book it, if the airport is under pressure they may need to use those resources. There are also family lanes available, but Easter is really busy at any airport. Good luck.

I’m flying from Gatwick on Good Friday, my flight is at 0825. I’ve paid for fast track security however it doesn’t actually open until 0600. This will of course be too late for you so unfortunately you won’t benefit from it (I think the website still allows you to book it even though it doesn’t open til 6!!)

I went through Gatwick last week
Security and passport control were busy but moved pretty fast as very efficient.
The nightmare was easyJet bag drop which took over an hour

Ah ok, that would be too late. We will just turn up early and hope for the best . We are flying with TUI

On Twitter Gatwick airport are advising people to arrive 2.5-3 hours before their flight. I’m hand luggage only but if I was doing bag drop I’d definitely aim for 3 hours prior

Just been through Gatwick today and 2 weeks ago. (BA flights) Wizzed through no issues at all. Not sure if I have just been lucky but one of my best airport experiences to date so delays are not inevitable I would just keep and eye on the news and social media as it seems to be very changeable

I flew from Gatwick on Saturday with no issues. Busy but no worse than pre pandemic Easter travel
