Help - Travel Security Screening & Cash

Could anyone tell me what security screening is done at T2 Heathrow?

Are the trays for belts, shoes, coats, handbags still used?

We are taking a large amount of cash in a money belt and would hope not to take it off and put it in a tray. Is it the full body scanners?

Taxi arriving soon - I had heard trays aren't used anymore so am confused.

When I last went out of Heathrow (Feb) we had to take any bags/money belts off and put them in the tray. You should be able to keep an eye on it though. Check the limits for cash leaving/entering countries of travel to make sure you’re within the limits otherwise you may have to declare it

I'd take it off before security and put it one of your bags until afterwards. Much easier for someone to discreetly swipe a money belt than a whole bag.

Ok, thank you so much @rooinspace we will put the money belt in backpack for security then put it on body in bathroom once inside terminal!

But stressful carrying so much cash. We have checked and aren't over the allowed limits. StarThank you!

Yes trays are still being used so you will have to take the belt off. Make sure you’re not bringing cash into a country that exceeds their local limit!

Thanks all, on our way, money belt in backpack for now. Last minute stupidity not thinking this through!

These trays always worry me as you have cash, passports, laptops, phones etc in them.

It's ok if you get through quickly, but I've been held up by being frisked and you can't always keep an eye on the tray!
