I love looking at Trinny's Facebook posts where she goes through the contents of her handbag on a flight and comes out with items that help her on the flight, such as sleep masks, brushless toothpaste etc. What do you bring on a flight to make the flight that much more comfortable and enjoyable?

Silicon ear plugs
Eye drops
Bamboo socks

moonbedazzled · 04/04/2022 04:07

Eye mask
Headphones
Air flight socks
Skin care
Neck support

VaVaVoombangabang · 04/04/2022 04:42

Moulded eye mask
Change of clothes (I am usually flying long haul)
Large shawl
make up remover/moisturiser
Spare lenses
Couple of magazines, I never buy them at any other time
New socks, always have new socks!

Loads of other things but they are the main ones

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/04/2022 06:51

Socks
Scarf
Kindle
Haven't been on a plane since pre lockdown but I remember thinking that I wished I'd worn slip on shoes.

I only tend to fly long haul and always wear comfy but smart clothes in layers including socks.
With me I have a full change of clothes in case of delays or if I just feel like freshening up, there are showers in the lounges too.
I have my water bottle that I fill after security and some simple snacks in case the food is not to my taste.
For in seat comfort/sleep I take a pashmina/wrap, neck pillow, decent sleep mask and noise cancelling headphones.
For entertainment an iPad with loads of downloaded magazines, books and tv. Don’t forget a cable to charge, I also take my powerbank.
Then my glasses as I remove my contacts to sleep, spares to put back in before we land, make up remover, moisturiser for face and hands, lipstick and an easy to apply powder foundation I often fly make up free but like to try to look human before I check in at the hotel. Don’t bother with a toothbrush as it comes in the amenity pack, unless I am in economy when I do.
Then I finish off with a nail file, breath mints, tissues, paracetamol, hand sanitiser and some wipes to clean my seat area.

Short flight - getting water bottles before boarding
Ensuring my kindle is fully charged

Long haul
enought. water unless I fly business
comfy socks and slippers plus comfy shoes as my feet swell, I normally wear trainers
pashmina or similar unless I fly business
fully charged kindle
handcream and lipbalm

I can't sleep, tried everything under the sun and moon (and several business class types). I may nod off but I never sleep more than 1-2 hours max. So eye mask and ear plugs are useless for me. I read and know that I will crash at home if I have an overnight flight.

I always have a 'bag of toys' inside my hand luggage. The toys include headphones, kindle, iPhone, charger and pen. If in a long hall flight, a blow up cushion and eye mask too. A Water bottle that you fill up in the airport is a must.

I get the toy bag out when I get on
The plane. Everything else stays in the overhead locker. In there. I have my purse and spare clothes for emergencies.

Thank you! I am after something to help sleep and a while ago saw something a bit like a neck rest but it was more supportive as it would prevent your head falling forward. Does anyone know what this is?

Big scarf to use as a blanket on a night flight when mine usually gets pinched by a child (of mine!).
Kindle.
Kindle charged up charger.
If it’s a short short haul trip & we’ve not taken a suitcase, I buy toiletries in duty free full size rather than try to cram everything into a small see through bag.

And for when we arrive at the hotel, I bring coffee bags with me rather than having to use disgusting tasting sachets

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/04/2022 18:20

Yes to coffee bags!

lauramarano · 05/04/2022 02:15

Skin Care (especially moisturizer, lip balm and some kind of facial mist)
Thick Jacket
Socks
Headphones
Book

balalake · 05/04/2022 07:01

Comfortable footwear.
Not flying from Heathrow if at all possible.
Never flying with Ryanair.

wink1970 · 05/04/2022 15:59

For long haul:

~ make up remover wipes
~ moisturiser
~ lip balm
~ hand cream
~eye mask & ear plugs
~ a TRTL pillow which acts like a neck brace & is far better then those u-shaped things
~ Pashmina
~toothbrush & toothpaste

A normal c shaped neck pillow, but just worn to the front rather than the back.
Groovytiger · 06/04/2022 09:11

@wink1970 thanks for that link. I have ordered one as I have tried my U shape pillow in every position imaginable and just not been comfortable. So many helpful suggestions, thank you!
