Holidays

Have I remembered everything?

We are off to Tenerife later this month and, after not doing a family holiday abroad for years, I am worried I've missed something, particularly with the extra covid related paperwork. So far I have:

Passports, all with at least 6 months left
Covid pass for each of us, valid until after we get back.
Health control form started to be finished off 48 hrs before leaving
Airport parking booked
Holiday insurance details noted down and number in phone
Boarding passes printed
Travel money sorted

Have I missed anything? Single parent so want it to run as smooth and stress free as possible, thanks

Don't forget travel plugs and sweets for the 'plane so your ears don't pop.
Make sure your mobile will be ok to use when you get there
Medication for tummy upsets etc etc

Take a photo of the info pages on each person's passport. Then email it to yourself. You'll have a copy in case you lose any.

I second emailing all documents to yourself in case of lost passport/phone etc.

Do any of you take prescription medication?? Do you have enough to last the whole time you are away plus a few days after you get home??

Anyone to keep an eye on your house while you are away?

Assume you have transport booked at the other end.
Have a wonderful time

Also make sure passports not only have 6 months left but also it is less than ten years from the date of issue - had to renew mine because of this as, although I had more than 6 months left to run, it was more than 10 years since issue (as I renewed early last time due to change of name on marriage).

Can I ask about mobiles please? How does roaming work these days? And also, would you just use a debit card as normal in Spain? Many thanks

Sorry to have hijacked the thread. In case it is useful to others I have some answers. Basically I checked with my mobile phone provider and bank provider about the charges abroad. Definitely worth checking.

Have a look on your network's website. Mine charged a supplement of £2 per day to use my phone in an EU country.

Valid EHIC/GHIC card? They seem to be taking quite a long time to process at the moment. I have been waiting over 2 weeks for mine despite them saying it only takes a maximum of 10 days

Book fast track at the airport early. I’ve never bothered before but wish I had this time.

The Spanish form took me ages to complete so set aside time for that

Pre paid currency card instead of cash?

This is incorrect, you only need 3 months on your passport. I just got back from Canaries with only 5 months.
No idea why people keep repeating the ,6 months nonsense on here

It was on the government website for a while, so that might have something to do with it!!!

Thank you all, have the GHICS cards (but had filed them and forgot about them so thank you!) and my collection of plug adapters. Phone is a work phone we can use as personal so no issue there. Pets are sorted, just going to go through and take photos of all my documents and I think I might be as prepared as I can be.

I'm sure I didn't stress about travelling this much pre-covid

For plugs, just take one adapter and a normal UK extension lead.

Have a brilliant time!

I'm the same, so stressed about all the admin, sounds like you are ready though. Have a great trip!

@HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime I have an extension lead that lives in one of suitcases specifically for holidays, great minds! 😂
