How strict on easyJet new small cabin bags?

How strict are easyjet on their new small cabin bag size? It says 45 x 36 x 20 cm so basically a small soft rucksack. Gone to measure mine and it’s 48 x 37.5 x 20 cm.

Has anyone travelled recently with them? Don’t want to have to pay ££££ for them to put it in the hold over a few cm! But they can be bastards so …

I’ve flown EasyJet twice since Christmas and neither time have they checked the size of either of my bags.

They are quite clear on the tannoy announcement that you should only put paid for bags in the overhead lockers and your small bags should go under the seat in front of you, but nobody has obviously enforced this.

With my experience I’d be more than happy to take a bag that’s so close to the limit.

I think the real question is, can it fit under the seat in front if space is limited? If not, it's not really fair to take up space in the overhead locker when others have paid for a bigger bag. How strict they are usually depends on how busy the flight is, in my experience, but if it's small enough to fit, that's usually what they're bothered about.

If you can shove it under your seat it'll be fine. I can't see them whipping out the tape measure.

I flew with them a couple of weeks ago and they weren’t checking the size of any bags. I was a bit cross as I’d bought a new rucksack as I didn’t want to pay extra for a checked bag!

Brilliant thanks everyone. Yes it’s small and could easily fit under the seat in front. Just like your average daytime rucksack that I take on a day out with the kids type thing.

You'll probably be fine. I think it really depends how much time they have. Usually it's a really quick turnaround so they don't have the time to ask every passenger to pop their bags in that basket thing that's the exact measurements.

As long as it squeezes into the box at the airport it's fine.
