Can't decide between 8th arrondissement or Le Marais.

We'll be with the kids (primary aged), 4 days, easter hols....

8th is pretty dull for kids. I'd go for Marais or left bank.

8th looked good because of walking distance to Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower etc

Le Marais does seem more lively but will that mean noisy / can’t make the most of fun areas with kids in tow??

I'd say Le Marais. Metro from there easy to get to other parts you wish to visit.

I live in the western suburbs of Paris. I’d opt for Le Marais every time. It’s a lovely area. Walk down the Canal St Martin to the Seine and there will be childrens playparks galore as well as house boats to look out. The place near Pompidou is fun and you’re close to Isle St Louis, Pyramide de Louvre.

The 8th only really has parc Monceau. The Champs Elysees aren’t really that interesting for kids.

You really are never very far from a metro station and it’s very quick. Try and get on metro line 6; a lot of it is open air and from Etoile (Arc de Triomphe) the route to Bir Hakeim (for Eiffel Tower) is breathtaking as you cross the Seine and spy the Tower.

Definitely the Marais - lots of cafes, shops, museums, stuff to look at and do. Walkable to Les Halles and the river and just much more relaxed.
