Anyone been to either of these apartments. Was looking to the Santo Tomas ones but Thomas Cook offering me a really good price on the Arenal ones. So any thoughts on them or the resorts themselves? Thanks.

I went to Santa Tomas when dd1 was 2.5 and dd2 was 8 months. There isn't a lot there as far as I remember but Thomson's had a hotel there which was family orientated and fab. Think there was only a handful of restaurants there but beach nice and it's v. quiet. Anything else I can help you with?

I have been to the Hotel Victoria Playa in Santo Tomas it is one of those Thomson Superfamily ones. I believe this year, they even offer swimming lessons to children. It was a very nice hotel but the rooms imo were a bit cramped and unless you are prepared to stay up late every night, the noise of other people heading to their rooms often woke us up.

Santo Tomas itself is very quiet, one main street with a supermarket and maybe 4 restaurants, there is a lovely walkway with children's play equipment every few steps.

You can hire a car to get round the village, but there is only 2 petrol stations (or at least there were when we were there about 5 years ago) on the island! You can get a bus up to Mahon (the capital) but from what other people said, it was a bit hit and miss whether it turned up or not. It feels very safe though and ideal if you have young children and don't want to venture far from the beach.
