Dallas, Texas - anyone been?

Off to Dallas next month, we’re visiting some family and will also have some time to do touristy trips.

Anyone been? Any recommendations of places we should visit or restaurant recommendations?

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is good if you have any interest in the assassination of JFK

Head to Fort Worth stockyards for some cowboy culture.

Again with Dealey plaza/JFK assassination point. That’s the main downtown thing to do along with the Fort Worth stock yards. The Grapevine area has a cool/historic downtown part that is walkable with quirky shops so worth a visit. There is a good aquarium with other jungle animals such as sloths etc and the zoo is decent. Great restaurants and shopping areas. There are so many restaurants so you won’t be stuck for choice. The arboretum is nice but expensive and will be roasting in summer. Dallas lacks scenic outside stuff unless your willing to drive - If you have access to car you are about 3 hours from coast at Galveston/Houston area which has nasa, moody gardens, beach, dolphin trips. Or you could do a night or two away in San Antonio and see the Alamo/river walk.

Meant to add - The theme park Six flags over Texas is just outside Dallas and a great day out with kids. Has a water park too called hurricane harbour. And there is another in the garland area which was quite good - Hawian falls I think it’s called.

Lived nearby for a few years; the JFK historical tour is very interesting; the aquarium is good; Fort Worth (about 40 minute drive and you can also get a city-city train which is quite unusual for that part of the US) has some great museums and galleries (Kimbell/Museum of Science and History are excellent), the Stockyards is worth a visit for the Friday night rodeo and the Water Gardens is an unusual, interesting place to visit. 6 Flags is a really great theme park and Hawaiian Falls is a really good water park, think it used to open in May. We loved the FW arboretum too. Grapevine is nice for upmarket shopping.
Hope you have a fabulous time!
