Thinking of taking dd (17) in August for a 3 day break.

Any recommendations on:

  1. Where to stay (in Amsterdam itself)
  2. Things to do (she likes art but is open to other things too)

We did the Anne Frank museum and loved it. It was really interesting

Can' remember the name of the hotel where we stayed but it was opposite the train station

I'm an Amsterdam blogger. Tons of inspiration for all your questions at www.AmsterdamWonderland.com
including posts on things to do with teens.

I don't make money from my blog but just passionate about steering people away from the lowlights.

We loved this museum

And the pancakes here

We did a day trip to Leiden which was lovely and toured a windmill there.

If i were you I'd try to stay near museumplein or leidesplein, away from the centre but then you'd have Vondeloark nearby for a wander.

Hiring bikes would be good but please be careful driving over tram lines so you don't get stuck.

It's been a while since I was there but my favourite street was Utrechtsestraat. It used to have lovely shops, coffee places etc.

The nine streets is also pretty.

Used to go a lot...so now shocked at the high cost of hotels etc...was always quite a cheap destination for us !

I agree about Leiden. There is a spa hotel in Amstelveen (Zuiver) which you might want to consider, but not sure if they do twin rooms.
