Thinking of going here for our honeymoon, if anyone has been, what was your experience?

I went three years ago, we stayed in the older part but the two resorts are joined. I enjoyed it, my DH wasn’t as keen as he didn’t think there was enough to do there. We had a honeymoon room with a massive bathtub on the balcony (hidden behind screens). I love to swim so enjoyed all the pools.

Did you have a butler? I've stupidly been reading the bad reviews on Trip Adviser and apparently you struggle to get a sun bed around the pool or beach without a butler!

No we stayed in the second or third cheapest category of room.
Regarding tripadvisor I actually booked and then cancelled sandals Antigua for last autumn because of the butler thing but then decided I was overthinking it.
We always got a lounger on the beach as we love the beach, loungers overall we’re ok from what I remember. I often liked to walk around with a towel , go for a swim and then go somewhere else rather than have a pool base.
The resort is nice, lots of lovely eating venues and I really like the French coffee shop that does lots of yummy treats.
Overall the holiday wasn’t a 10/10 for me as it was windy the Easter we went so we couldn’t do the water sports we hoped to do.
Most guests were American and very friendly, there were also quite a lot of honeymooners from the UK and USA. We’re a coupe who are we’re early 50’s when we went.

Hello. I have just seen your thread. We went four years ago. We stayed in the Royal side which is much newer but the hotels are joined and you can use the facilities at both . It is lovely, the infinity pool is beautiful and the food is great. Our room was perfect. We did not have a Butler room and although it was busy had no problem getting a sunbed. We went down to the pool at about 8.30, I think if you went later than 9 you might struggle to get the perfect one but you would get one :-) I would advise booking your restaurants as soon as you get there as they can be hard to get into as the butlers do get first choice but we got a table at all the ones we wanted as we booked them the first day.

The beach is beautiful and there is lots to do, there are quiet spots and more 'lively' spots, something for everyone.

We have booked to go back again next year. Although we are treating ourselves to a butler room next time, you will be absolutely fine without one, its just a bit of extra luxury Hope that helps :-)
