Spain - car seats/transport

We are going to Spain in 2 weeks with the in laws and our 9m old. In laws have been multiple times before but we have never been. They're saying that most Uber's/taxis have car seats in and that we don't need to take our own (they have never been there with a small child, just said that most ubers theyve been in the driver has had to take a car seat out to fit them in).

I don't know whether to trust them or whether to take ours. I don't feel that comfortable putting him in some random persons car seat.

Am I being precious or would you just take our seat?
We can take it and the pram on the flight for no extra cost so that's not an issue, its just lugging it about that's putting my husband off taking it.

Anyone been and know whether we should take it or not bother?

I'd take it, from experience the car seats provided abroad are usually forward facing which I wouldn't be comfortable doing with a 9 month old. You also don't know how clean they will be and if they've ever been in an accident or damaged. If you can take it anyway then I would, there's plenty of you going to be able to take a turn of carrying it.
