One night in York

BF has offered to have DS for a night so DH and I can go to York. Anyone got any recommewndations?

DH recommends the Royal York Hotel, he says the service is very good. I think a twighlight river cruise would be nice, also there is the Yorkshire Eye (Railway Museum marvellous, but there is NO NEED if not accompanied by small boys!)

As a personal thing I would choose somewhere smaller and more personal, and I would actually go to Knaresborough over York anytime (easy distance from Harrogate if cities are your thing).

There is a place just outside York called Aldwark Manor - very very nice
