Holidays
Algarve in April?
PollyAnnie · 18/03/2022 19:52
Anyone considering visiting the algarve over Easter holidays?
I know with covid etc, people will not have been in a few years, but is it sunbathing weather?
Looking for a relaxing holiday, and have never been to portugal.
Also, if anyone knows any resorts that are nice, I'd love some suggestions. I haven't been away in a while so keen to treat myself!

It will be quite cool and the water will be freezing.

Consider Egypt. Sharm el sheikh will be quite pleasant and there are amazing resorts.

We own a property just over the Spanish border from The Algarve and we have been at a Easter. It’s not usually t shirt weather but not big jumpers or coats either. It’s chilly at night too.
My kids will go on the pool and sea, usually wetsuits in the sea though.
Chances are it will be warmer than The UK

Hey OP the algarve is one of the warmest places in Europe in April. It should be around 20 degrees. I'm going for a week so I'm crossing my fingers that we are blessed with good weather

I went in May a few years ago, it was warm and sunny, pretty always dry, during the day, but quite windy, but nights went right down to around 10 degrees. April probably even colder. I don't think it will be really good sunbathing weather, you should probably head to the canaries or anywhere on the med is likely to be a bit warmer than the Algarve (whilst still not really being warm). As Cormoran said, the sea will be really cold. How about Madeira ?

Thanks everyone. Some good points!!
Egypt does look like it would be nice. Slightly longer flight through. Portugal appealed as it's not too long a journey. I had considered the canaries too, but I've been before and had wanted to try somewhere new. Portugals been on my list for a while!
Flights and accommodation are cheaper than summer but not that cheap, so it made me think it was quite a popular time to go and weather would be nice. Perhaps just because of the school holidays.

Lovely walking around weather, I'd say, rather than sunbathing weather. The sea will be freezing, but the sea in Portugal is always freezing.
I should probably say I'm Scottish so used to the cold!
